HC Deb 15 March 1984 vol 56 c202W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much money his Department spent or provided in the last financial year on improving access to educational buildings in Wales for disabled students.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

None. Educational building work is financed for the most part by the education authorities.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he is taking to seek to ensure that all the technical, polytechnic and further education colleges in Wales are fully accessible for students in wheelchairs.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

It is for education authorities and others providing educational buildings to make provision for disabled students. My right hon. Friend proposes to take steps which will require access to be provided in accordance with standards which will be laid down in the building regulations.
