HC Deb 14 March 1984 vol 56 c143W
15. Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he will next meet the chairman of the Confederation of British Industry to discuss with him the employment prospects for Scotland, and for Lanarkshire in particular.

Mr. Allan Stewart

My right hon. Friend has no immediate plans to meet the chairman of the Confederation of British Industry. Scottish Office Ministers, including myself, frequently meet CBI representatives when discussion of the Government's economic strategy, including industrial and employment prospects, usually occurs. The last such occasion was on 20 January when my right hon. Friend met the chairman and director of CBI Scotland about the CBI's Budget representations.
