§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of Her Majesty's Government's policy of abolishing the metropolitan councils, he has collected information as to the voluntary bodies currently in receipt of money from the Greater Manchester council.
§ Mr. WaldegraveNo, but I understand that my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has collected some information in response to the consultation paper "Streamlining the Cities: Grants to Voluntary Organisations", a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House.
§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if it is his intention that metropolitan county-wide planning information and intelligence systems would be maintained in the event of the abolition of the metropolitan county councils.
§ Mr. WaldegraveUnder the proposals outlined in the consultation paper on the reallocation of planning functions in the Greater London council and metropolitan county council areas, all structure and local planning and development control responsibilities will pass to the London borough/metropolitan district councils. It will be for those councils to consider their planning information and intelligence needs and to make arrangements for meeting them, including common or joint arrangements if they so decide.
