HL Deb 12 March 1984 vol 449 c623WA
Lord Winstanley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they intend to introduce legislation to clarify the law in England and Wales regarding the fluoridation of public water supplies.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Lord Glenarthur)

It is not likely that it will be possible this Session to legislate on fluoridation in the terms announced in another place by my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Social Services in reply to my honourable friend the Member for Gillingham on 6th December 1983 [Official Report, Commons, Vol. 50, cols. 142–143]. It is, however, hoped that the parliamentary timetable may provide an early opportunity thereafter for the introduction of this legislation.
