HC Deb 08 March 1984 vol 55 c670W
Mr. Parry

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many representations he has now received relating to increases in duty on tobacco and alcoholic drinks.

Mr. Hayhoe

The main bodies which have made representations opposing increases in taxation were named in the replies of 7, 8 and 9 February to earlier questions by the hon. Member. In addition, there have been representations from a number of medical and other bodies in favour of duty increases on cigarettes. All these representations will be carefully considered.
