Mr. Robert Atkins

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects air staff target 412 to be converted to an air staff requirement.

Mr. Pattie

We hope to announce a decision during the summer on whether we shall convert air staff target 412 to an air staff requirement, or, alternatively, suspend such action and refurbish our existing Jet Provosts instead.

Mr. Robert Atkins

asked. the Secretary of State for Defence what would be the optimum in-service date of any new replacement aircraft for the RAF Jet Provost fleet.

Mr. Pattie

The optimum in-service date is 1989.
