HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c604W
40. Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much money he estimates the Nature Conservancy Council has for management agreements under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 in the current financial year.

Mr. Waldegrave

The Nature Conservancy Council's powers to conclude agreements derive from the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and the Countryside Act 1968. The council has been provided with sufficient funds to finance all such agreements concluded to date. In the current financial year the NCC expects to spend a total of £417,000 to cover all extant agreements. Of this, £158,000 is to be spent on nature reserve agreements and £259,000 on management agreements in SSSIs.
