HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c612W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has for a review of the improvement grant system; if he will introduce legislation to make improvement grants for work required by disabled people on account of their disability mandatory; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

We are at present undertaking a review of private sector housing improvement policy, including the home improvement grant system. This includes grants for the disabled. Mandatory intermediate grants are already available for the installation of basic amenities where these are needed by disabled occupants.
