HL Deb 07 March 1984 vol 449 cc356-7WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the working party dealing with shotgun controls held its first meeting; how many meetings have taken place since then; and when, and in what form, the report will be published.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)

The working party was set up not to review the controls on firearms but to examine the way in which the Firearms Act 1968 is administered. It held its first meeting on 14th March 1983, shortly after the closing date for the submission of evidence. Twelve meetings were held in all. My right honourable and learned friend is considering the working party's report at the moment and a decision on how its findings should be published will be taken shortly.
