HC Deb 06 March 1984 vol 55 c555W
Mr. Frank Field

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will detail the grants given by his Department to each voluntary organisation during 1982–83; which of these had their grants reduced in 1983–84; and by how much.

Mr. Ridley

The voluntary organisations to which my Department made grants during 1982–83 were as follows:

£000
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents 420
Community Transport 20
Medical Commission on Accident Prevention 6
British Motorcycle Safety Foundation 100
RAC/Auto Cycle Union Motorcycle safety scheme 43
British Motorcyclists Federation 10
Motorcycle Safety Campaign 1

Grants were not paid in 1983–84 to the four motorcycle organisations because the 1982–83 payments were either single payments or the final year of a series. There was no reduction in 1983–84 in the grants to other organisations.
