Mr. Frank Field asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will detail the grants given by his Department to each voluntary organisation during 1982–83; which of these had their grants reduced in 1983–84; and by how much.

As regards 1983–84, it is not yet possible to determine grant paid in all cases since the financial year has not yet finished. However, I can give the information required in respect of the following organisations:
Grants under section 73 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 and the Further Education (Scotland) Regulations 1959–79 1983–84 Grants Paid Reduction in comparison to 1982–83 £ £ Boys' Clubs of Scotland 16,500 2,691 Girls' Brigade 5,700 1,755 Scouts Association 21,000 100 In these cases, the reductions shown are due to the organisations' estimated deficits in 1983–84 being less than in 1982–83.
