Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many holidays were provided for elderly and disabled people in Scotland in each of the last five years for which figures are available.

The information was not collected before 1978–79, and figures for that year and the subsequent years have not been supplied by some local authorities. The available figures for 1978–79 were published in "Social Work Case Statistics 1979", a copy of which was placed in the Library. Figures for 1979–80 were supplied to the right hon. Member in a letter from my predecessor dated 20 October 1981; the figures for 1980–81 and 1981–82 were published in theOfficial Report on 24 February 1982, at c. 432, and 20 April 1983, at c. 113, respectively.
