Bus Industry (Subsidies)

Mr. Fry

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what were the total subsidies to the bus industry; and if he will break this figure down into the following categories: (a) London Transport, (b) public transport executives, (c) the National Bus Company, (d) municipal undertakings and (e) independent undertakings.

The following estimated figures for total subsidies to the bus industry in 1982–83 comprise revenue support (which includes depreciation and renewals grants from GLC to LTE) concessionary fares payments, new bus grant and fuel duty rebate.
