asked the Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts what recent consultations the Minister for the Arts has had with the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England and the National Heritage Memorial Fund; and if he will indicate the topics discussed.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment and my noble Friend the Minister for the Arts met the chairman of the National Heritage memorial fund on 9 November, and discussed the general financial position of the fund. On 22 February my noble Friend met the chairman of the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England and discussed the role of the commission.
