Mr. Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many murders have been reported to the police in each of the inner London boroughs south of the Thames during 1983 and in each of the first two months of 1984.

In cases of homicide it is not possible in the absence of a court decision to distinguish between offences of murder, manslaughter and infanticide. I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the information for 1982 is as given in the following table; figures for 1983 will be available shortly and I shall send them to the hon. Member.
