HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 c321W
20. Mr. Shersby

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give consideration to the problems of reformulation and shelf life testing of products which would have to be carried out by food manufacturers before deciding the time scale for the implementation of new regulations concerning claims on food labels; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Fenner

It has always been our intention to allow a two-year transitional period between the making of any such regulations and their fully coming into force. This is to enable food manufacturers to cope with the kind of problems to which my hon. Friend makes reference.
