§ Mr. Terlezkiasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportions of persons released from prison over the most recent convenient period are known to have committed further offences of violence.
§ Mr. HurdThe only information readily available relates to adult males discharged from prison department establishments in 1978, and shows that about 9 per cent. of those discharged from a sentence for violence against the person or robbery were reconvicted within two years for an offence of these types. Results of this study were published in tables 8(h) and 8(i) of "Prison Statistics, England and Wales, 1982", (Cmnd. 9027).
