HC Deb 21 June 1984 vol 62 cc221-2W
Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to prohibit the closure of schools for use as polling stations for European elections.

Mr. Mellor

No. Where a polling station is situated in part of a school, acting returning officers are advised that it is not necessary to close the whole school to teachers and pupils unless the normal business of the school will interfere with polling.
