HC Deb 14 June 1984 vol 61 c533W
Mr. Gould

asked the Prime Minister whether, following the decision to close the British Leyland heavy truck plant at Bathgate, she is satisfied that there remains a national capacity to build the heavy vehicles which would be needed by the armed forces in time of war; and where such vehicles are to be built in the future.

The Prime Minister

A national capacity to build the heavy vehicles which would be needed by the armed forces in time of war will remain after the closure of the British Leyland plant at Bathgate. There is a variety of locations throughout the country at which vehicles for military purposes can be built.
