I shall reply to the hon. Gentleman as soon as possible.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what has been the average price per litre of milk received by dairy farmers in each of the last eight years in Northern Ireland;

(2) what has been the total value of milk produced by Northern Ireland dairy fanners in each of the last eight years;

(3) what has been the average yield per dairy cow in Northern Ireland for each of the last eight years.

Mr. Butler

The information requested is given in tables numbered 113, 107 and 18 respectively in the booklet "United Kingdom Dairy Facts and Figures 1983" published by the Federation of United Kingdom Milk Marketing Boards, copies of which are available in the Library.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he hopes to inform dairy farmers, who may wish to accept the proposed outgoers scheme, when their applications will be accepted; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butler

Final details of the proposed outgoers scheme are still under consideration. However it is hoped that an announcement can be made soon giving details and inviting applications.
