§ Mr. Patrick Jenkin150 bodies are now approved to let on assured tenancies under section 56 of the Housing Act 1980. Information concerning the number of assured tenancy lettings is not available in the form requested, but returns from approved bodies last year indicated that by April 1983 44 newly built homes had been let on assured tenancies. Preliminary results from another inquiry addressed to 133 approved bodies in April this year indicate that the number of lettings has now risen to 210. 270 more homes are reported to be under construction for letting on assured tenancies.
