§ Mr. Keyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if, following the proposed guidelines outlined in the Office of Fair Trading discussion paper, "Selling by Telephone", published in March 1983, he has any plans to institute a code of practice for selling by telephone; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ChannonI understand that, in the light of the response to the discussion paper, the Director General of Fair Trading intends to publish a final report and recommendations on selling by telephone later this year. In the meantime the Director General is encouraging the adoption of suitable provisions in codes of practice in this area.
