HC Deb 12 June 1984 vol 61 c403W
Mr. Geoffrey Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he issues any guidance to chief constables on the type of standard documents used by arresting police officers; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hurd

No such guidance has been issued. The Association of Chief Police Officers, in consultation with the Home Office and with its support, is preparing a national custody record which will provide a uniform method of recording all the information about the detention and treatment in custody of arrested persons which is required by the Police and Criminal Evidence Bill and its associated draft codes of practice.
