The council and associated national consultative committees and working groups are supported by a staff of 9½ whole-time equivalents drawn from both the Civil Service and the Common Services Agency of the Scottish Health Service. The gradings for the latter group do not correspond exactly to Civil Service grades. The staff comprises:

§ Mr. John MacKayThe responsibilities and composition of the Scottish Health Service Planning Council are prescribed by section 5 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978. We have no plans to alter this legislation.
