HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 c359W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if there are to be any changes in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation strategy as a result of the deployment of Soviet nuclear missiles in Eastern Europe.

Mr. Stanley

There are no changes in NATO's deterrent strategy of flexible response and forward defence.

Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how the United States decision to increase substantially its number of sea-launched cruise missiles will affect (a) North Atlantic Treaty Organisation strategy, (b) nuclear and conventional balance between North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the Warsaw pact and (c) arms control negotiations.

Mr. Stanley

I will answer shortly.
