§ Mr. David Howellasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what equipment that could have military application is currently being exported from the United Kingdom to Iran and Iraq; and if he will take steps to halt any current supplies of, or orders for, such equipment.
§ Mr. Channon[pursuant to the reply, 2 June 1984, c. 291]: Applications for licences covering the export to these countries of goods controlled under the Export of Goods (Control) Order are carefully scrutinised to ensure that, in accordance with Her Majesty's Government's policy of neutrality in the Iran-Iraq conflict, no lethal equipment is supplied. It has been the practice of successive Governments not to make public details of export licence applications.
