HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 cc361-2W
28. Mr. Sackville

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the level of gas flaring per day in 1983 in the North sea; and what was the corresponding figure in 1979.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The average volume of gas flared from United Kingdom North Sea operations in 1983 was less than 10 million cubic metres per day compared with about 18 million cubic metres per day in 1979: over the same period oil production increased by more than 45 per cent.
