HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 cc16-7W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he plans to meet representatives of the South Korean government to discuss the effects of their shipbuilding programme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I have no plans at present to meet South Korean Government representatives specifically to discuss shipbuilding. I shall however continue to take every suitable opportunity, as I did when in Korea, to impress on that Government that in their own industry's interest and that of the industry worldwide they should refrain from exacerbating the imbalance between supply and demand.
