asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) further to the answer of 15 November 1983 to the hon. Member for Workington, Official Report, column 391 what replacement studies have been obtained and revalidated by the Advisory Committee on Pesticides; and in relation to which products;

(2) if he will list by both chemical names and manufacturers' trade names those pesticides cleared for use in the United Kingdom under the pesticides safety precautions scheme whose clearance was at any time supported in whole or in part by studies produced by Industrial Bio Test Labs Inc. of the United States of America; and if he will identify the type of studies involved in each case;

(3) what requests the Advisory Committee on Pesticides has made to manufacturers for replacement. of studies initially carried out by Industrial Bio Labs Inc of the United States of America; if he will identify those for which replacements have not yet been provided in full; and if he will identify the types of studies involved in each case.

There is only one pesticide marketed in the United Kingdom whose clearance under the PSPS did depend in part on long-term toxicology studies carried out by IBT, for example the herbicide chlorbromuron. Replacement data have been received from the company concerned and are being scrutinised.
