HC Deb 04 June 1984 vol 61 c112W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people in the Coventry travel-to-work area have used, in the last three months for which figures are available, the job release scheme and the job splitting scheme; and how much both schemes have cost for the same period.

Mr. Alan Clark

The numbers in receipt of an allowance under the job release scheme in the Coventry travel-to-work area in the last three months for which figures are available varied between 621 in February and 714 in April 1984. During the same period one application for the job splitting scheme was accepted in the Coventry travel-to-work area resulting in two part-time job opportunities.

Information on the cost of the schemes during the period February-April 1984 is available only at national level. The provisional expenditure on the job release scheme and job splitting scheme in Great Britain during the period was £72.7 million and £80,000 respectively.
