HC Deb 31 July 1984 vol 65 c208W
Mr. Parris

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has reached a decision on the reappointment of the standing advisory committee on trunk road assessment.

Mr. Ridley

The standing advisory committee on trunk road assessment was set up in 1978 following the report of the Leitch committee. I believe that this independent advisory committee can continue to play an imprtant part in the development of assessment techniques and I have reappointed it for two years while making changes in its composition. Professor T. E. H. Williams of Southampton university will continue as chairman. The other members will be Mr. P. H. Collins, Mr. J. D. Lockhart, Mr. T. M. Mulroy, Mr. T. J. Powell, Mr. R. H. Stewart and Mr. H. J. Wootton. Further appointments may be made as the committee's work develops. I have asked the committee to advise me on the need for improvements in the application of assessment techniques to urban road proposals.
