§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the last date on which claims for non-contributory invalidity pension will be accepted.
§ Mr. NewtonNon-contributory invalidity pension is to cease from 29 November this year. Claims will continue to be accepted up to and beyond that date but payment for periods before 29 November 1984 will be subject to the normal rules. In particular benefit cannot be paid for periods more than six days before the day on which a claim is made (or one month before, where no previous claim has been made) unless there is good cause for the delay in claiming; nor in any case can benefit be paid for any period more than 12 months before the date on which the claim is made. The last effective date for claiming noncontributory invalidity pension will therefore be 27 November 1985.
