§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe London and south-east regional planning conference (SERPLAN) is carrying out studies on some aspects of land use planning in the southeast that need to be kept under review. Officials of my Department are participating in this work, and the Department has also commissioned research on related subjects including the supply of land for housing. I would hope to be in a position next year, in the light of any proposals that the conference may put to me on the basis of these studies and of the outcome of any wider consultations that may be necessary, to consider whether the current regional guidance can usefully be developed and updated.
