Mr. Bill Walker

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland how many newly qualified legal assistants are employed in procurators fiscal offices in Scotland; and how many of them are directly involved in prosecutions in courts.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

During 1984 a total of 10 legal assistants were recruited who were newly qualified Solicitors. This represented 63 per cent. of the legal assistants recruited during 1984. All these legal assistants are directly involved in prosecutions in court.
