Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many ports there are in the United Kingdom; and if he will list them.

Mr. Ridley

I refer the hon. Member to the list of 84 Customs trade ports in Great Britain at appendix E of "Port Statistics 1982", which is published jointly by the Department of Transport and the British Ports Association.

Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the investment in British ports in each of the years since 1963, expressed in current and 1983 prices.
