HC Deb 23 July 1984 vol 64 c536W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what recent discussions have been held by European Community Defence Ministers regarding the suspension of licences for the sale of defence equipment to Israel; and when the suspension was last reaffirmed.

Mr. Pattie

The suspension of licences for the sale of defence equipment to Israel by the United Kingdom and other members of the European Community was introduced following discussion in the European Council on 28–29 June 1982. There have been no subsequent discussions at Ministerial level but members of the European Community maintain contact at official level on their co-ordinated national policies in this area.
