asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what are the most up-to-date figures of all sales of housing association houses in England to sitting tenants; and what percentage this represents of housing association stock in England;

(2) how many housing association houses in England have been sold with a discount; and what percentage this represents of housing association stock in England.

Between April 1979 and March 1984, 5,941 housing association dwellings were sold to sitting tenants in England, representing 1.5 per cent. of the housing associations' fair rent stock at 1 April 1983. A further 24,219 co-ownership sales were completed during that period.
