asked the Secretary of State for Energy what percentage of energy production was generated by coal-fired, oil-fired and nuclear power stations, respectively, in the first six months of 1984; and how this compares with the equivalent period of 1983.

Data for June 1984 is not yet available. Based on fuel used the proportion of electricity produced from coal, oil and nuclear power by the electricity boards in the United Kingdom for the period January to May 1984, and for the same period last year were as follows:

Note: The remaining 2 per cent. is made up from hydro-electricity and small quantities of coke.
