HC Deb 17 July 1984 vol 64 cc127-8W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when it is now proposed to complete the motorway or dual carriageway for each section of the road between Port Talbot and Carmarthen.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

[pursuant to his reply, 12 July 1984]: Tables 3 and 4 of "Roads in Wales 1983" list the three remaining major motorway-trunk road improvement schemes between Port Talbot and Carmarthen as expected to start as follows:

M4 Baglan-Lonlas—between January 1986 and December 1988;

A48 Cross Hands-Llanddarog—between January 1983 and December 1985;

A48 Coed Hirion-Nantycaws—between January 1986 and December 1988,

subject to the availability of resources.

Construction work on the Baglan-Lonlas scheme is expected to last approximately three and a half years, on the Cross Hands-Llanddarog scheme approximately two years and on the Coed Hirion-Nant-y-Caws scheme approximately two years.
