HC Deb 17 July 1984 vol 64 cc140-1W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what proposals there are to expand the network of outlets in the west midlands in order to provide a more effective service for those seeking work; and how many main jobcentres will be provided in Wolverhampton.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The employment manager for the midlands region has prepared first draft proposals for the development of the jobcentre network in his region in the light of the broad strategy for the development of the employment service approved by the commission and by Government. These proposals include details of the services to be provided in the Wolverhampton area.

Copies of the proposals have been sent to area manpower boards and other interested parties and to the hon. Members concerned. Decisions will be taken in the autumn.
