HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 c439W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy towards the objectives of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (Amendment) Bill; and what action he proposes to take in regard to this.

Mr. Waldegrave

The Government sympathise with the objectives of the Bill and are grateful to the hon. Member for Wentworth for bringing it forward. However, they consider that, in its present form, the Bill would not fully achieve its objectives. They are currently considering the best way to strengthen the procedures for protecting sites of special scientific interest.
