HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 c369W
Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will (a) list the Ulster Defence Regiment bases which were brought into existence with the formation of the regiment but have now closed and (b) the level of command in each present base.

Mr. Lee

Details of the UDR bases which were brought into existence with the formation of the regiment in April 1970 but which have since closed are not readily available and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. Of the 29 present bases, 10 have a lieutenant-colonel as the senior rank, 18 have majors and one has a captain. The headquarters of the UDR is commanded by a brigadier.
