§ Mr. Tom Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on any proposals presently being considered for reorganisation or privatisation at the Ministry of Defence establishment Inchterf, Milton of Campsie.
§ Mr. LeeA review of the proof and experimental establishments, of which P&EE Inchterf is one, was set in hand in January 1984 to see how the civilian and service manpower targets for these establishments could be achieved, while maintaining both capability and efficiency. This review is in line with the Government's declared economic strategy on which my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Treasury, addressed the House on 28 October 1983 at columns 545–61. The results of the review are currently being studied, and it is expected that proposals will be put to Ministers shortly.
The hon. Gentleman may be assured that, when a decision has been made, hon. Members who have establishments in their constituencies will be informed.
