HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 cc375-6W
22. Mr. Leigh

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement concerning the future of Marylebone station.

Mr. David Mitchell

Under the statutory procedure approved by Parliament, British Rail has announced its intention to propose the closure of this station. Objections to the proposal from users will be considered by the London regional passengers' committee, which will report to my right hon. Friend on any hardship it considers the closure would cause. My right hon. Friend will take his decision on the proposal in the light of the committee's report and of all the relevant factors, including economic and social considerations.
