asked the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he is taking to ensure that no further job losses take place in the Cynon valley, in view of the imminent transfer of jobs at Pirelli, Aberdare to Hampshire; whether he will request the Welsh Development Agency to make every effort to attract the company's new project, now under discussion, to the Cynon valley; and if he will make a statement.

Scheme Source Assistance available
(a) Homes insulation scheme Northern Ireland Housing executive Cash grants of 66 per cent, or £69—whichever is the lesser—towards loft and tank insulation. A special rate of 90 per cent. or £95 is available to the elderly on small incomes.
Energy conservation scheme Department of Economic Development Cash grants of up to 30 per cent. (50 per cent, in respect of technical advice) of the cost of implementing energy efficiency projects in industry and commerce.
Coal fired boiler scheme Department of Energy Cash grants of 25 per cent, of the cost of replacing or converting existing oil or gas fired equipment in industry.
Energy conservation demonstration projects scheme Department of Energy Cash grants of up to 25 per cent, of the capital cost (and up to 100 per cent, of expenses incurred directly as a result of the demonstration eg monitoring costs) of projects which demonstrate new or improved technologies or new application of energy conservation technologies.
