§ Mr. DunnThe information is not available in the form requested. The Department collects statistics of pupils for whom a local education authority is providing education but who belong to the area of other authorities. The pupil numbers are divided in each authority's return into only three age groups, with only those pupils in special schools identified separately. The borough of Trafford's return to the Department in respect of January 1984 recorded that there were 285 pupils aged 11or over for whom Trafford was providing education but who belonged to the area of another authority; of these, 18 were in special schools.
