Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many redundancy notifications have been given for each of the last 12 months for which figures are available in the Burnley travel-to-work area.

The number of redundancies in the Burnley travel-to-work area, involving 10 or more employees, confirmed by the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in each of the last 12 months, is given in the following table.

The number of potentially redundant jobs which were supported under the temporary short time working compensation scheme in November 1983 in the Burnley travel-to-work area was 31.
