HC Deb 30 January 1984 vol 53 c16W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts' if he will make a statement about the Minister for the Arts proposal that the British Library should seek private funds to develop its collection and services.

Mr. Waldegrave

My noble Friend the Minister for the Arts has asked the British Library to give careful consideration to the possibility of attracting private resources so as to maintain and develop new ways of exploiting the library's collections and services for the general benefit. He looks forward to discussions with the library on specific proposals later this year.
