HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 c705W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will estimate the number of jobs which will be safeguarded or created in Wales over the next three years arising out of the impact of the Welsh Development Agency's programme.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

It is not possible to estimate with any degree of accuracy the number of jobs that will be safeguarded or created over the next three years arising out of the Welsh Development Agency's programme, since the take-up of its various services over that period cannot be predicted.

Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales for how many new jobs in Wales in 1983 special financial assistance was given.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

Projects in Wales for which offers of selective financial assistance under section 7 of the Industrial Development Act were accepted in 1983 are expected to create nearly 8,800 new jobs.
