HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 c629W
Mr. Alex Carlile

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has any proposals for amending section 5 of the Affiliation Proceedings Act 1957 (as amended) so as to enable orders to be varied so that the maintenance payments made by the putative father for the child may be made direct to the child.

Mr. Mellor

Provision has been included in the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Bill to ensure that maintenance orders made in affiliation proceedings before 1 February 1981 may be varied so as to be payable direct to the child. Orders made on or after that date—when the legislation was amended — may already be made payable to the child.
